Hailing from a purely non-musical environment, Basit Ali started singing from an early age of 8. His yearning to pursue music seriously made him approach his musical teacher, Niaz Hussain who tutored him under his adept gaze on eastern classical vocals. With practically no support from his family in the beginning, his first mainstream breakthrough came during a cricket world cup when he lent his vocals to a youth anthem for a local television channel. Soon after he started getting approached as a playback singer for various television serials and original soundtracks.

A versatile singer, Basit Ali will be appearing on Coke Studio, Season 9 for his debut performance.
